Heads up about drafting from hotel business centers...

I was finishing a blueprint at a hotel last week. Their computer froze and I lost all progress. Had to start over from my rough sketches. Now I always carry a portable hard drive. Don't rely on public setups for important drafts.

Learned that the hard way myself. I never trust hotel computers for anything that isnt saved in at least two places. My rule is to keep the main file on my laptop and do a backup to a portable drive every hour. Cloud saves are good but I have had hotel wifi drop at the worst times. A physical backup you control is the only safe bet.

Yeah I read that a lot of hotels barely update the software on those shared computers. Makes them super unstable and full of old bugs. I heard someone say they got a virus from a hotel printer driver once. Just not worth trusting with real work.

Totally agree about the software updates being skipped. I used a hotel computer once to check email and it was so slow I gave up. Those old bugs make them useless for anything important. Hearing about the printer driver virus is just another reason to avoid them. Just bringing your own device is way safer.
