I fixed a CAD mate problem by sketching on paper first

Had a tough time with a pipe flange drawing in my CAD program. The software kept saying the faces were parallel when they weren't. I drew the thing by hand on some graph paper and spotted the flange was tilted. Now I do a quick paper sketch for any tricky part before I even open the computer.

Remember those old notebooks you swore you'd keep forever? I dug one out last week, filled with notes from a project three years ago. My handwriting was terrible and half the pages were just angry scribbles about a broken support bracket. It's funny how @miakim mentioning a notebook now makes that whole drawer of them feel like a museum of past frustrations. None of the notes actually helped me fix the thing, they just got the mad out so I could see the screen again.
