I was drafting a simple foundation plan for a garage in Omaha and kept messing up the offset distances.
For years I just eyeballed the offset from the property line on my screen, but last week the city inspector caught a 2-foot mistake on a permit. He pointed to my AutoCAD settings and said, 'You know your snap interval is still set to 1, right?' I had never changed it from the default, so all my manual picks were rounding to the nearest foot. Has anyone else had a basic software setting throw off their work for way too long?

My old boss had the same snap setting issue with sewer line grades.

Saw a forum post once where a guy said his whole crew missed a grade because of a bad snap setting. Makes you double check everything now.
