My old drafting teacher told me to always lock my layers. I ignored him for 2 years.

Finally had a massive screw up on a commercial project in Austin where I moved a whole gas line because I forgot to check which layer was active. Took me 4 hours to undo the damage. Anyone else learn this lesson the hard way?

Did you at least save the original file before you started moving things?

At least you saved it" - my buddy @ryan_stone did something similar once. Dude spent an hour "organizing" his desktop into folders, then couldn't find the actual project file for a week. We had to dig through his recycle bin at 2 AM.

Dropped the original in a folder I called "old junk" and then forgot where I put it... spent three hours digging through random backups trying to find it again. Reminds me of when I was rearranging my garage last summer and put all the Christmas decorations in a box labeled "summer stuff." Ended up buying duplicate lights because I couldn't find the first box until February.
