Crossed 10,000 hours on the old Erie dredge pump and it finally gave out

We were pulling silt in the Mobile River last month when the pressure gauge just dropped to zero. The housing had a crack you could fit a quarter in (honestly, I'm surprised it held that long). That pump ran for over a decade without a major rebuild, which I guess is a good run. Anyone else had a piece of gear hit a crazy hour mark before failing?

Check the math, 10,000 hours is only about a year of straight running.

Ever think about how time feels different when you're doing something you hate? @mary836, your math made me remember this one summer I tried to learn guitar. I logged maybe 200 hours total, but it felt like a decade because I just wasn't into it. Meanwhile, a year of actual work flies by. Funny how the clock lies depending on what you're doing.
