Had to choose between a 2-inch dredge pump and a 4-inch for that creek job near Baton Rouge last spring
I picked the 4-inch and it handled the sand and gravel way better than I expected, but I spent an extra hour hauling fuel to keep it running, has anyone else dealt with that trade-off on smaller waterways?

Ugh, that extra fuel run is the worst, feels like you're doing double the work for half the payoff. Totally been there with bigger pumps on tight creeks, it's always a gamble between power and hassle.

Isn't that the TRUTH, lily574? You put in all that extra effort and it barely feels like you got ahead. @rosejackson I get why you went with the 4-inch for power, but man, those extra trips really do take the wind out of your sails. Sometimes the payoff just doesn't match the hassle.

Honestly, I went with the 4-inch too and just made extra fuel trips, it was worth it for the power.
