My old boss told me to ignore the silt curtain on a job near Mobile Bay

He said the current was too strong for it to matter and it just slowed us down. We ended up with a violation notice from the state for a plume that stretched nearly a quarter mile. Cost the company a five figure fine. Anyone else get burned by skipping what seemed like a small step?

That's how it always goes, right? Cutting a corner to save five minutes ends up costing five months of headache.

That "five months of headache" part is too real. I see it all the time with home repairs. People skip priming before painting to save an hour, then the paint peels in a year. Or they use the wrong kind of caulk around a window. The fix is always way worse than just doing it right the first time.
