That $20 harbor freight shear I swore I'd never use

Bought one of those cheap electric shears on a whim two months ago to trim some old cable jacket on a barge job and figured it'd die after one use. Thing is still going strong after cutting through 50 feet of 3/4 inch wire rope sheath. Has anyone else had one of those cheap tools actually hold up better than you expected?

and honestly I feel that so hard, I bought a $15 heat gun from some random hardware store and fully expected it to melt on the first use but it's lasted three years now. it's weird when the cheap junk actually outperforms the expensive stuff you've had fail on you before. maybe it's just luck of the draw sometimes but I'm glad yours is holding up too.

The universe works in mysterious ways, I guess. Maybe the cheap stuff is just made by people who know what they're doing and don't have a marketing budget. Or maybe that $15 heat gun is built out of spite and cheap Chinese steel that somehow holds up better than a brand name one. Either way, it's a reminder that price tags are just numbers someone made up. Enjoy it while it lasts, because it'll probably break the day after you tell someone how good it is.
