The riverbed by the old mill went from a total clog to clear in under a month
We switched from a 6-inch to an 8-inch suction line and the difference in silt removal was crazy. Anyone else had a simple upgrade fix a chronic problem like that?

That's actually a flow rate improvement, not just a bigger pipe. The cross-sectional area of an 8-inch line is about 78% more than a 6-inch. It's moving a lot more water, which carries the silt away instead of letting it settle. Makes sense it cleared up so fast.

Right, @sanchez.robin. Explains my shower pressure too.

Wait, wait, wait. 78% more? That can't be right, can it? I thought bigger pipe just meant a little more water, but that's almost double the space to move stuff through. And @scott.grace, you're telling me your shower pressure is tied into this whole silt removal thing? That's actually wild if the same math applies there. I never would have guessed the difference was that huge between just two inches of pipe.
