Update on that new sediment sensor I bought for the cutter head

I dropped about $1,200 on a wireless density sensor for my 10-inch dredge, hoping it would help me avoid overloading the pump. It worked great for a day, then the constant vibration shook a connection loose and it gave me a false clear reading, which almost caused a jam. Has anyone found a truly rugged model that can handle the shake on a smaller dredge?

That "shook a connection loose" thing is a perfect example of how everything is just a bit too fragile now. It's like my kid's overpriced headphones that break if you look at them wrong. You pay for a tool to solve a problem, and its own design creates a new one.

Its so frustrating when you spend good money on something and it just falls apart like that. That headphone thing hits close to home actually... my nephew went through three pairs last year alone. They just keep making things smaller and lighter without thinking about how people actually use them. You'd think with all the money these companies make they could put a little extra solder or a thicker wire in there. Guess that would cut into their profits too much though... feels like everything is designed to be thrown away now instead of fixed.

You're totally right about that. It's the same with so many modern appliances and gadgets. The fix for one weak spot just makes another part fail.
