Warning: Tried a new pump setup on the old Erie Canal job last month.

We swapped our standard 8-inch pump for a 10-inch with a wider impeller. The bigger pump moved 30% more slurry per hour. Less clogging in the intake too. Anyone else seen gains from just upsizing the pump?

So bigger pumps are the new diet plan? My wallet definitely feels lighter after filling the tank.

My 2010 Hyundai Elantra actually gets better gas mileage with smaller pumps, not bigger. I switched from standard nozzles to the skinny truck stop ones and gained about 2 mpg on the highway. @anthony_lane55 has it right - bigger isn't always better for efficiency.
