Finally got that 14-foot cathedral ceiling seam to lay flat after fighting it for two full days.
The trick was using a 12-inch knife with a slight bend and letting the first coat set up for almost 4 hours before the second pass, which is way longer than I usually wait.

Four hours is a long wait. Did you have to adjust the mud mix at all for that first coat to keep it from sagging over such a long dry time?

Yeah Karen275, I just mix it a bit thicker for the first coat.
