Ha, I was the same way for years. Always just dumped the mix in dry and dealt with the sticky mess. Finally tried it after a dozen cleanups and yeah, he was right. Makes the bucket way easier to rinse out and the mud stays consistent longer.

Took me about five dirty buckets to finally listen to that advice. Now I wet the bucket first every time and it makes cleanup maybe half as fast. The mud really does stay workable longer too, especially in warm weather when it dries out fast. That old timer knew what he was talking about for sure.
