That time a whole sheet slipped and cracked on a second floor job in Tacoma

We were lifting a 12-foot sheet up the stairs in a tight stairwell last fall. My helper lost his grip at the top and the whole thing slid down, hitting the corner and splitting right down the middle. We had to cut the busted piece out with a knife, then scab in a new section from a fresh sheet. It added about two hours to the job. Anyone ever have a good way to move long sheets up narrow stairs without this happening?

Should've just built the house around it.

Did you at least get a cool sound effect when it cracked? That's the real tragedy, missing out on a perfect cartoon "SNAP." Honestly though, moving a 12-footer up stairs sounds like a bad idea from the start. Next time maybe try a crane through a window, or just build the whole house around the sheet.

Just tilt the sheet vertical and walk it up like a ladder, works every time.
