The old guy at the hardware store in Spokane saved my butt on a ceiling job
I was picking up more mud for a big ceiling patch and must have looked stressed. This guy named Frank, who used to run his own drywall crew, saw my cart and asked if I was using the right tape. I told him I was using mesh on a joint over a beam, and he shook his head. He said, 'Kid, on a ceiling with any movement, you need paper tape. That mesh will crack in a year, I promise.' I switched to paper that day and the repair is still solid. Anyone else get a random piece of advice that totally changed how you do one thing?

Yeah, I always thought mesh was just for looks. Then my buddy in IT showed me his router logs. One look at the device names and signal hops, and he pointed right at my setup without me saying a word. It was like he had a map of my house. Changed my whole view on how much data these things actually give out.
