Tried the hot mud trick for fixing bubbles and it actually saved me 2 hours on a hallway job
I always used regular joint compound for small patches until a guy on a job site told me to try 20-minute hot mud for those air bubbles that pop up, and after testing it on a 12-foot hallway ceiling last Wednesday, I’m never going back-has anyone else found a specific brand that sets faster without clumping?

Mixing it a little on the wet side helps prevent those clumps from forming. I keep a spray bottle handy to mist the powder as I mix, just enough to keep it smooth without making soup. Sheetrock 20 is solid but watch your water ratio and stir it good for the first minute.

You said hot mud saved you 2 hours on a hallway job, but I bet you still spent 10 minutes picking clumps out of your teeth after mixing it too thick. I use the Sheetrock brand 20-minute stuff and it works fine, but every time I open a bag I feel like I'm baking a cake that might also repair drywall. Still beats waiting around for regular mud to dry though.
