Went to that new apartment complex downtown and the corner beads are all wrong
They used paper-faced metal on the exterior walls, which is just going to crack in a year with our freeze-thaw cycles. Anyone else seen this shortcut popping up more?

The best fix I found was switching to vinyl beads with a fiberglass mesh base, then embedding them in a modified thinset instead of joint compound. That extra step adds maybe 20 minutes per wall but stops the cracking cold through two winters now. Worth doing if you want those corners to actually last.
