Why does nobody talk about the switch from 4-foot to 5-foot sheets for ceilings?

I used to fight with 4-foot sheets on a 10-foot ceiling in a Denver condo, but after a job last spring where the foreman insisted on 5-footers, I cut my butt joint count by a third and saved half a day.

Less waste on standard eight-foot walls too.

Yeah the eight-foot wall thing reminds me of helping my buddy drywall his garage. We had so many weird cuts from not planning around that height.

Man I had the exact same revelation last year. I showed up to a job with a truck full of 4-footers and the lead guy just shook his head at me like I showed up to a basketball game with a tennis racket. Switched to 5-foot sheets and my old man back thanked me for not doing that extra 20 minutes of taping on every seam. Still caught myself trying to lift a 4-footer out of habit halfway through the day though. Felt like I was fighting muscle memory from 15 years ago.
