Changed my mind about those 'buy nothing' Facebook groups after reading a post about a guy who snagged a working espresso machine

I used to think they were just for people dumping junk they were too lazy to haul away, but then I read a comment where someone scored a free washer and dryer set that saved them $600. Now I'm wondering what else I've been missing out on by ignoring them.

You ever notice how we're all brainwashed into thinking everything has to be bought brand new? A friend of mine furnished his entire apartment from those groups and his place looks better than mine and I spent thousands. It's like people forgot that swapping and reusing stuff is how humans got by for most of history.

lmao the "looks better than mine" part hit home. My friend Jess found a solid wood dining table on one of those swap sites, took it home and sanded it down over a weekend. Thing looks like it cost a grand. She spent like thirty bucks on sandpaper lol.
