Showerthought: walking a dead mall is way better than taking photos of it
I used to spend every trip to the half-empty Galleria in Dallas snapping pics of empty corridors and boarded up stores. But last month I just walked through without my phone, just listening to the echo of my own footsteps and the distant Muzak, and it felt more real than any photo I ever took. Has anyone else stopped documenting and just experienced the emptiness instead?

Hit up the abandoned mall in Mesquite last week and just sat on a bench for 20 minutes.

Sat there for an entire 20 minutes @gracecarr? That's like a full season of a Netflix show in abandoned mall time. Hope you at least brought snacks or something because that place sounds like a ghost town with bad lighting. Did any pigeons come by to judge your life choices? I'm picturing you just staring at a dried-out fountain or a defunct escalator like it's deep art or something. Honestly though, bet that was the quietest 20 minutes you've had in months, probably worth it for the silence alone.
