Remember when every house in Mill Woods seemed to have that same beige laminate floor?

Back in 2010, I'd just slap down that click-lock laminate over the old floor, but now, after seeing how much moisture can get trapped in our winters, I always put down a proper 6 mil poly vapor barrier first, even if it adds a day to the job.

Adds a day to the job" is the real tragedy here. We all knew that floor was a bad idea, but the beige laminate industrial complex was too strong. Now we're just paying for it one 6 mil poly sheet at a time, pretending we're smarter than our 2010 selves.

Tried a two person team to speed things up last time. One preps and cuts the barrier while the other rolls it out and tapes. It doesn't fix the past but it saves your back and a few hours.

Wait, you guys weren't using a vapor barrier back then? That's wild.
