That moment my basement flood turned into a lesson about poly pipe fittings
I was in my St. Albert basement last Thursday finishing up a bathroom rough-in when I heard a hissing sound from behind the wall. Turned out my sharkbite fitting on the poly pipe had popped loose, just a little spray at first but then a full geyser. I shut off the main valve quick and dried everything with shop vacs, then spent 2 hours installing proper crimp rings instead of those push-fit connectors. Has anyone else had sharkbites fail on poly pipes here in Edmonton's cold climate and switched to crimp?

Happened to me too in my basement last winter... sharkbite just gave up on a cold night. I switched to crimp rings as well and honestly, I sleep way better now. Those push fittings feel like a ticking time bomb with our freeze thaw cycles. That geyser cleanup is a nightmare, hope your drywall and baseboards didn't warp too bad.

I dunno, feels like people overhype how often these fail...
