Took me 6 weeks to fix a crooked window frame in my 1950s Edmonton bungalow

I thought leveling the old wooden frame would take a weekend, but the whole thing was warped from settling. Ended up replacing the jamb, shimming it three times, and still had to sand down the sash to get it to close right. Has anyone else run into hidden framing issues in these old houses?

Saw that Calgary frost heave video too, and it makes me wonder how many of our 1950s places have hidden structural issues like that.

Saw a TikTok from a guy in Calgary who found his whole kitchen wall was basically floating from frost heave. He had to jackhammer the basement slab to fix it. These old houses are wild.
