I think the push for all-LED retrofits is sometimes a waste of money

I swapped out the old fluorescents in a 2005 office building for LEDs last year, and the client's energy bill only dropped 7%. Has anyone else seen such a small return on a big project?

We had the same thing happen at a small warehouse we own. Spent a fortune on the new fixtures and the fancy bulbs, and the savings were maybe enough for a pizza party each month. The math they sell you on never seems to add up in real life.

My uncle's shop fell for that LED retrofit pitch last year. The salesman promised a two year payback but they're still waiting on that first real check. Sometimes the upgrade just upgrades your power bill to a fancier number.
