My old way of pulling wire through a finished wall was a huge pain
I used to just use a fishtape and hope for the best, which meant a lot of guesswork and sometimes making extra holes. About six months ago, I bought a magnetic wire puller kit for a job in a tight attic space. Now I use that thing almost every time I have to run a line through a finished wall or ceiling. It saves me so much time and I'm not patching as many little holes. Has anyone else switched to a specific tool that made this kind of job way easier for them?

Magnetic pullers are a total game changer for finished walls. I fought with fishtapes for years and the frustration was real. The kit with the little steel ball on a string is what I use now. It lets you drop a line down a wall cavity with way more control. You still need to drill a clean hole at the top and bottom, but it cuts the fishing time in half.

So you drop the steel ball down from the top hole and the magnet grabs it at the bottom? What happens if there's a fire block or some loose insulation in the cavity, does the ball just get stuck halfway?
