Two weeks ago I found a live wire hidden behind drywall during a kitchen reno
I was pulling new circuits for a remodel in an old house near Portland and my tick tracer went off on a spot that should have been dead. Turns out someone had just buried a junction box behind the wall instead of removing the wire properly. Has anyone else run into hidden live wires like that and what did you do about it?

Are you sure it was a buried junction box and not just a wire that was left energized by accident? I used to think people who talked about finding these were being dramatic, like maybe they misread their tester or something. But after pulling a wall open in my own place last year, I found a wire that was still hot from a circuit that was supposed to be disconnected. Someone had just capped it and shoved it back in the wallb no box, no tape, nothing. That tick tracer saved me from a nasty surprise, so I get why you were spooked. I ended up tracing it back to the panel and finally pulling the breaker to kill it for good.
