Finally swapped my old hot air station for a Quick 861DW and the difference is night and day
For years I used a cheap no-name hot air station I got online for maybe $80. It worked, but it was a real pain, especially on modern phones. The airflow was all over the place and the heat recovery was slow, so I'd often cook a chip trying to get a stubborn one off. Last month I bit the bullet and got a Quick 861DW. The first job was an iPhone 12 with a bad charging IC. The focused nozzle and steady temp meant the chip came up clean in under a minute, no dancing around or worrying about nearby caps. The old one would have taken three times as long and probably lifted a pad. It's not just faster, it feels safer and way more controlled. Has anyone else made a tool upgrade that felt like going from a butter knife to a scalpel?

My old station was basically a hair dryer with a dream.

Totally get that, my old one was exactly like what @hernandez.jordan said. Upgrading to a proper station made rework feel less like a fight and more like actual work.

Isn't it amazing how much easier things get when you have the right tool for the job? I remember struggling with a cheap iron for years, thinking that was just how it had to be. It really does feel more like you're getting something done instead of just fighting with the equipment.
