Had a real bad time with a swollen battery in a laptop last week

I was working on a 2018 MacBook Pro for a regular customer, just a simple screen swap. When I opened the case, the battery pack was puffed up like a pillow and pressing hard on the trackpad cable. I had to stop everything, put the whole thing in a metal box, and call the customer to explain the safety risk. Has anyone else had a close call with a spicy pillow during a routine repair?

Glad you caught that before it went bad. I mean, that pressure can wreck other parts even if it doesn't pop, like you saw with the cable. Makes you double-check every single machine that comes in now.
