Had a weird thing happen at the repair shop in the old mall downtown

I was fixing a Samsung TV from 2015, just a simple capacitor swap, and the whole main board just went dark when I powered it on. Turns out the outlet in that back room had a bad neutral, my meter read like 90 volts. I mean, I spent an hour checking my work before I even thought to check the wall. Anyone else run into voltage issues in older buildings messing with repairs?

Oh man, that's the worst. It feels like so much of our infrastructure is just held together with old wiring and hope these days.

My old apartment had a fuse box from the 1950s that would hum when it rained.

Whoa, hold up there... @elliots49 I get what you're saying about infrastructure being old, but humming in the rain? That's not exactly the end of the world. Those old fuse boxes are pretty simple beasts, honestly. A little moisture in the air making a contact vibrate isn't the same as a ticking time bomb. Probably just needed a good dusting and a newer cover plate or something.
