Just realized I was wrong about vintage tube amps being too much hassle
I had a guy come into my shop, Mr. Patterson, with an old 1960s Fender amp that had been sitting in his basement for 20 years. He explained how his dad used to play it every Sunday and the simple way he talked about the sound made me rethink my whole approach to repairing older gear. Has anyone else had a customer change how you view a certain type of repair?

Tbh "untouched" doesn't always mean untouched, I've seen plenty of "untouched" amps that had someone's botched solder job hidden inside.

Wait, 20 years just sitting in a basement? That's wild. Most amps I see from that era have been messed with by every uncle and neighbor who thought they could fix it. The fact it came in untouched after all that time is honestly amazing.
