Just realized the antique mall downtown has a whole section of old tube radios nobody fixes
I counted at least fifteen of them stacked in a corner, all priced under forty bucks. Has anyone here ever brought one of those back to life, or is it more trouble than it's worth?

Oh man, that's everywhere now. We're in this weird spot where old tech is cool again, but the know-how to fix it is just gone. It's like a whole layer of history is turning into expensive dust collectors.

Check out local repair cafes or maker spaces. They sometimes have old heads who still know how to solder and source weird parts.

What about setting up a little workshop swap meet where people trade skills instead of just parts? @hollym12 hit the nail on the head about the know-how fading, but a monthly meetup could let the old-timers pass along soldering tricks while someone else handles sourcing. It's not a full fix but it keeps the knowledge from totally disappearing.
