My wife asked me why I keep fixing things that are 'worthless'

We were cleaning the garage and she pointed at my bench full of old game consoles and said 'you spend hours on stuff people just throw away.' It hit me because she's right, most folks see a broken PS2 as trash. But I told her it's about the skill, not the price tag. Anyone else get this from family or friends who don't get it?

I mean, it's about the satisfaction, not the money.

My uncle got me into restoring old hand tools. Picked up a rusted crosscut saw at a garage sale for five bucks. Spent a weekend cleaning it up and sharpening the teeth. First time I used it to cut a branch off a maple in my yard, I felt like I'd really accomplished something.
