Appreciation post: I just realized I've calibrated the governor on the same Otis unit in the First National building for 25 years straight.

That's a quarter century of listening for the same click on a machine that's outlived three building owners, and it makes me wonder what other long-term service relationships you folks have with your regular stops.

That's wild. I mean, I've been servicing the same old boiler in the library on my route for like 18 years now. You just get in a rhythm with a machine.

But what if that rhythm makes you miss new problems, robert275? Sticking with one machine for 18 years could mean you're just used to its quirks and not seeing when it's truly worn out. Newer tech or even a fresh set of eyes might spot issues your routine has learned to ignore. That long-term rhythm might actually be a rut.
