Faulty limit switch taught me to start with the basics.
Spent a whole morning on the drive, only to find a bit of grime on the switch. Now I clean contacts first thing.

Yeah, because "muddy mess" sounds like a great plan. Victor's tractor story should be warning enough.

Wait, contact cleaner won't fix actual grime or buildup. That stuff is for oxidation, not for cleaning off physical dirt. You gotta wipe or scrape the gunk off first, otherwise you're just getting the dirt wet. Cleaner is the final step after the contact is physically clean. Starting with the spray just makes a muddy mess that can cause more issues. Learned that the hard way on an old tractor ignition.
