Just realized my partner's dad had a point about these old Otis machines
I was at a family dinner last week and my girlfriend's dad, retired mechanic from Chicago, told me I rely too much on the diagnostic boards and should learn the relay logic by heart. He said nobody under 40 can trace a stuck contactor anymore without a screen. Do you think we've gone too digital, or is this just old timers gatekeeping the trade?

@casey943 kinda nailed it, but the real issue is that boards lie sometimes and relays don't. When you know the old logic, you can catch a bad ground or a sticky contact that the computer says is fine. Just knowing how to read a schematic and poke around with a meter saves you from chasing ghosts for three hours.
