A chat with my client's grandmother made me see my job differently

I was doing a facial for a regular, and her grandmother was visiting from Florida. She watched me work and said, 'Back in my day, we just used cold cream and a washcloth. You're like a doctor for skin.' It wasn't a big statement, but it stuck with me. It made me think about how much trust people put in us now, and how the job has grown from simple routines to real skin health. Has anyone else had a moment that showed them how much our field has changed?

Yeah, that's so true. It's not just about making someone look good for a day anymore. We're really looking at long term health and fixing real problems.

Honestly, that hits the nail on the head. Like, seeing people move from quick fixes to actually healing their skin or getting their gut right is huge. It's not a temporary cover-up, it's fixing the root cause so you feel better for years. That shift in thinking changes everything.

Respectfully disagree a bit here. In my experience, quick fixes and long term healing don't have to be enemies. Sometimes a good temporary cover up gives people the confidence to actually stick with the deeper work, instead of getting overwhelmed and giving up altogether. Your mileage may vary but I've seen both approaches work together for a lot of folks.
