A client in 2018 told me my extractions were too rough and it stuck with me.

She said, 'It feels like you're fighting my skin, not working with it.' I realized I was using too much pressure, trying to get every single thing out in one pass. I switched to a gentler, rolling technique with my fingers and started using a warm steam towel for a full five minutes before I even start. It takes a bit longer now, but I get way less redness and better results. Anyone else have a piece of feedback that totally changed your approach?

Oh wow, that's such a good point! I read somewhere that if you have to push that hard, the pore isn't ready to give it up yet. Makes total sense to just back off and try a different way.

Yeah, the part about the pore not being ready really hits home. My friend Sarah got a bad infection from forcing one on her chin that just wasn't coming out. She ended up with a red lump that needed a doctor's visit and antibiotics. It took weeks to heal and left a mark that lasted months. It was a hard lesson that sometimes you just have to leave it alone and let your skin do its thing.

Happened to my brother with a cyst on his back. He thought he could pop it himself like one of those videos you see online. Dude ended up with an infection that spread down his whole shoulder blade. Doctor said he was lucky it didn't turn into a full blown cellulitis situation. Took him two rounds of antibiotics and a drainage procedure to fix it. Now he has this weird dent in his skin that looks like a wormhole.
