Changed my mind about glycolic peels after 6 weeks of sticking with it
I used to think glycolic peels were too harsh for my oily skin, kept getting red and irritated after one try. But a esthetician at a shop in Austin told me to start with a lower concentration and work up slowly. After 6 weeks of doing a 20% peel every 2 weeks, my texture is way smoother and my pores look smaller. Has anyone else had a slow burn with a product that paid off?

Yeah I remember reading that study where they tested lower strength peels over time vs higher strength peels and the slow method actually worked better for long term results. Sounds like your esthetician was spot on about easing into it. I bet your skin barrier is way happier now too.

Heard this exact thing happen to my friend Maria with retinol. She bought some strong serum from Sephora and her face peeled like crazy for weeks. Switched to a super low dose cream from her derm, used it twice a week for like 3 months. Her skin looks totally different now, even toned and way less breakouts. Made me wonder how many products I gave up on too fast.
