Had a client tell me my facial massage was 'too gentle' to do anything

This was about 6 months ago, a new client in her 50s. She flat out said, 'My last girl in Tampa really dug in, I can't feel this working.' I explained that my method focuses on lymphatic drainage and doesn't need heavy pressure, but she was convinced. It stuck with me because it shows how much we have to educate on the spot. How do you handle clients who come in with really fixed ideas about technique?

You mentioned having to "educate on the spot," and that's so real. But sometimes you just can't win against a fixed idea. I've found a quick, hands-on demo works better than explaining. I'll place their hand over mine so they can feel the pressure I'm using under their own touch.

Works great for pressure, but I've seen that backfire with tools. Had a client try to feel the angle on a circular saw blade that way. @the_henry's method needs a very calm student and a very safe task.
