Had a client with a bad reaction to a new serum I was sure would work
It was a Tuesday morning in my treatment room in Portland. I had just started using a new vitamin C serum from a line I trusted, and my 10 AM client, who had normal skin, agreed to try it. About five minutes after I applied it, she said her face felt hot. I looked and saw bright red patches forming fast. My heart sank. I immediately removed it with a cool, wet cloth and applied a calming aloe gel I keep on hand. She was okay, just a bit shaken, and I comped her service. It taught me that even with trusted brands, you have to patch test every single new product, no matter how much you think you know someone's skin. Has anyone else had a reaction happen right in the middle of a facial, and what's your go-to calming product for that moment?

Same thing happened to me with a niacinamide booster.

Honestly, loganprice, how bad was it? People talk about niacinamide like it gave them a chemical burn, but sometimes it's just a bit of redness that goes away in an hour. Saw someone online return a whole routine over one pimple. Seems like a big reaction for a pretty common ingredient.
