Hot take: I rushed a peel and paid for it big time

I was having a super busy day at the spa and skipped some steps with a new client. She wanted a chemical peel for dull skin, and I didn't ask enough about her recent products. After the treatment, her face got really red and started peeling way too much. She called me in a panic, and I felt awful. I had to give her a free calming treatment and some aftercare stuff to help. It taught me to never cut corners, no matter how packed my schedule is. Now I make sure to go through every question on my form before any service. That mistake really stuck with me and changed how I handle consultations.

That consultation form is like a permission slip for your malpractice insurance. Nothing makes you slow down like giving away free treatments and product because you skipped two questions. It's the spa version of "measure twice, cut once," except you're cutting a check to fix a face.

I see it differently than the "permission slip" idea. That form is how you start a real talk with a client before you even touch their face. When someone writes down they use retinol at home, you can explain why a certain peel is a bad idea right then. Skipping questions just means you find out about their allergic reaction after the rash shows up, not from the paper. It saves your butt by making sure you're both on the same page from the start.
