My steamer gave out mid-facial last Friday
It was the second appointment of the day, a standard European facial. The machine just hissed and shut off, no warning. I had to quickly switch to warm towels for the extraction phase, which isn't ideal. The unit was only about 18 months old, which feels too soon for a major failure. I'm looking at a repair bill of nearly $200, according to the service center. Has anyone found a particular brand of facial steamer that holds up better under daily use?

Ugh that's the worst, especially during an appointment. Did the service center say what actually broke inside it? I'm wondering if it's a common part that fails, like the heating element or the pump.

This is exactly why I've stopped trusting those extended warranties completely. They always seem to cover the cheap stuff that never breaks, but the minute something major goes out they find a way to stick you with the labor anyway. It reminds me of how car warranties work too - you pay extra for coverage but then they hit you with diagnostic fees and "non-covered" parts. Feels like companies design these things to fail just outside the warranty window on purpose.

That sounds incredibly frustrating. A repair bill that high for a unit under two years old is really disappointing. Did the service center mention if this was a known issue with that specific model? It would be good to know if it's a design flaw or just bad luck.
