Warning: I thought a $12 aloe gel from the drugstore was a joke for post-peel care, but after a client in Boise had a bad reaction to my usual high-end product, I tried it in a pinch.
The generic gel with no added fragrance or color calmed her redness down in under 20 minutes, which has me rethinking my whole 'expensive equals better' stance for certain basic soothing steps, so what's the most basic, cheap product you've been shocked actually works?

My kid's diaper rash cream works better on my dry knuckles than any fancy hand cream I've bought. The zinc oxide is magic stuff.

Yeah I read something about that, how sometimes the simple stuff just works better. Like @nancy_owens said with the diaper cream, it makes sense. I mean, my mom always used plain vaseline for everything and I used to laugh but now I get it.
