Hot take: I chose to ignore the 'knock three times' rule before entering my own garage.

Everyone in my family swears by it, but I walked right in last Tuesday and found a perfectly still, brand new spiderweb exactly where my face would have been. Does anyone else think these little rituals are just coincidence magnets?

Honestly that just sounds like bad luck. Spiders build webs in quiet places all the time, garages are perfect for that. Walking in a second earlier or later probably wouldn't have changed a thing. People see one weird event and tie it to a rule they broke, but they ignore all the times nothing happens. Our brains are just wired to connect dots even when there isn't a real pattern. It's a cool story, but it's probably just random chance.

Wow, I was a total skeptic until something just like that happened to me.
