I think the claw hammer is overrated for most framing work

I used to only use a curved claw hammer for everything, like my grandpa taught me. Around 5 years ago I switched to a straight rip hammer for framing and I never looked back. The rip claw pulls nails way better and pries boards apart cleaner. I was on a job in Tulsa last summer and the other guys all laughed at my hammer until I pulled a stuck nail out in one shot. Now three of them switched too. Has anyone else tried a straight claw and stuck with it?

Have you ever had to pull a nail that went in at a weird angle though? The curve gives me more control in tight spots, at least in my experience.

Tbh the real trick is putting your foot on the board so it doesn't lift.
