My pup dragged home a chipped garden gnome from the curb

He found it a couple houses down, sitting by their trash cans. It's clearly broken, but I can't tell if they meant to throw it out or if it fell. I'm torn between fixing it up for my yard or trying to give it back. Feels weird to decide what to do with someone else's stuff.

Wait, someone was gonna toss a gnome just for a chip? That's cold.

Heard about a buddy who almost gave away a chipped mug from his grandma. Turns out his dad dropped it as a kid and she kept it anyway. Stuff like that makes you think twice.

Actually... what if it's a family heirloom they just forgot outside? victor_hill70 has a point that tossing it for a chip is harsh, so maybe it has real meaning. The chip could be from some old story, like a kid hitting a baseball into it... that kind of damage gives a gnome character. Feels like you should at least ask, just in case it's got a history you'd hate to swipe.
