My street is full of video doorbells and it's getting odd

I've noticed almost every house on my block has a video doorbell now. People say it's for safety and I get that. But honestly, it's making daily life feel weird. Just last week, I was dropping off a package and the doorbell announced my arrival to the whole street. It's like everyone is watching each other all the time. Simple things like chatting with a neighbor feel staged because you know you're on camera. I think we're trading normal interactions for a false sense of security.

Turn the sound off on those things if you can. My street was the same until a few of us just muted the voice alerts. You still get the motion notice on your phone but it doesn't broadcast your business to the whole block. It cuts down that watched feeling a lot. Maybe bring it up casually when you see someone. Most folks don't even realize how loud and constant it is until you point it out.

Yeah, broadcasting your business is annoying, @phoenix_thompson.

My buddy's neighbor had one that announced every car and squirrel for months. They finally turned the voice off after someone mentioned how constant it was.
