Tried a 'silent' alarm clock that vibrates under the pillow

Woke up at 3 AM for a week straight because my cat kept batting it off the nightstand. Learned that any new gadget has to pass the pet test first. Anyone else have a pet that sabotages their routine?

Picture your cat as a tiny, furry quality control expert. Mine treats my smart speaker like a hockey puck, sending it flying during important reminders. I had to stop using a sunrise lamp because the dog would stare directly into it like it was sending him secret messages. Now I just assume any new thing is a pet toy first and a useful object a distant second. What's the weirdest thing your pet has decided to mess with?

Okay but the "pet toy first" idea is SO real. I have to gently correct the sunrise lamp thing though, because staring directly into a bright light can actually hurt a dog's eyes. It's not just weird, it's risky. I had a similar scare with a laser pointer. Now I check if anything new could be a vision hazard, not just a toy. Pets don't know what's bad for them, so we have to be the ones to spot those dangers.

@riverwhite that laser pointer scare is rough, lol. Gotta watch those bright lights for sure.
