Vent: Nobody seems to know how to close a mailbox flap quietly

I live on a street with a bunch of old metal mailboxes and for the last 3 months my neighbor keeps slamming his flap shut at 6 AM, waking up my whole house. I finally went out and showed him you just push the latch in before letting it close, no noise at all. Has anyone else had to teach a grown adult basic mailbox manners?

People really don't think about how loud that simple thing is until it's 6 AM.

until it's 6 AM" hits so hard lol. it's like the whole world forgets that sound travels through walls and floors like crazy. i swear the most random stuff gets amplified at that hour, like someone opening a cabinet or dropping a spoon. it makes you realize how much noise we just tune out during the day cause there's other background stuff going on. it's weird how quiet mornings turn every little thing into a major event.
