Ditched my regular rasps for a used set of German ones and wow
Found a beat up set of 3 German rasps at a flea market outside Columbus for $15. Figured I'd try them on a couple draft horses I've been trimming for years. The difference in how clean the hoof wall came off was nuts. Barely had to use my nippers at all. I learned that a decent rasp really does save your shoulders after a long day. Anyone else ever grab a cheap used tool that just clicked?

Used tools are always a crap shoot. Could be a lucky find or could just be you finally used something not totally beat to hell.

What kind of condition would make you say "nope" before even picking it up? Like is rust a dealbreaker or do you factor in how easy it is to clean up? Ngl I've passed on some decent tools just cuz the rust looked too far gone.
